Michael Cavén was born in 1969 and grew up in Piteå, in northern Sweden.
He started taking photos in his early teens when his father gave him a camera, a Zenit, full manual type of camera. At that moment the fascination began, first with black and white film developed at home in a sauna converted to a darkroom, and later with color and slide film.
Finally when the digital technology became affordable the first digital camera was bought in 2002.
After studying computer science at the university of Umeå he moved to Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, for job opportunities. Today he makes his living by working as a senior programmer developing exchange systems for some of the most demanding customers all over the world. However the computer knowledge has also been valuable in his photography because a lot can be done digitally with images today.
Most of his time besides the day work is assigned to photography.
Today he specialises in city, night and travel photography. A lot of the photos are taken around his hometown
"I think Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world".
Michael's work has been published in a number of magazines and his images has been used for books, greeting cards, brochures and CD records etc. He also supplies stock images.
